A little bit about Markell
I’m like you. I’ve faced setbacks that derailed my life and career goals. I’ve also successfully reimagined my career and built a meaningful life — and I’ve helped thousands of clients do the same in my 20-year career as a career counselor and career coach. My purpose is to help you achieve your wildest career goals so that you live your best life.
I can help you craft an inspiring vision for your career, identify the right career moves to make, establish a personal branding strategy, and launch an effective job search so you attract high-quality job offers. Along the way, I’ll support you through your doubts and fears with tools that build confidence and a genuine sense of new possibilities and abundance. The result is clarity about the right career path for you, confidence in your ability to do it, and more often than not, a new job you love.
In addition to the above, I am passionate about helping people who have suffered losses to rebuild their careers, reestablish a sense of identity, and find renewed purpose. I understand the dynamics of loss, grief, and restarting a career from my own personal experience. I unexpectedly became a widow when my husband, Mark, died suddenly just weeks before our first anniversary. A few months later, I received a brain tumor diagnosis and spent the next year in treatment. After my recovery, I stood at a crossroads. I had to figure out how re-invent my career and re-build my life. I trusted my strengths and passions and relaunched myself as a career counselor and career coach.
In addition to my one-on-one career coaching and counseling work, I am an associate faculty member at Santa Monica College and an adjunct career counselor at Cypress College in California. I serve as past- president and Finance Co-Chair of the California Career Development Association; as a volunteer grief group facilitator at New Hope Grief Support Community and on the Board of Directors for the Hope for Widows Foundation.
